In Loving Memory of Tom Leonard

Posted

The family of Lieutenant Colonel Leonard is deeply saddened to announce his passing on February 5, 2026. Born on October 11, 1932, Tom lived a full and remarkable life. He touched the hearts of those he met through: UVM College, his apple business, his military career, playing golf, fishing at Everglades City, and his stay at Our House in Rutland, Vermont (https://www.vermontvisitingnurses.org/impact-thomas-leonard-aka-snake/).

Heartfelt thanks to his brother, David Leonard, and his cousin, Wanda Styka, for reaching out to him throughout the years. He leaves behind his daughters, Wanda Leonard and Karen Leonard, a son Thomas C. Leonard, Jr., two grandsons, one great-grandson, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He joins his parents, James and Audrey Leonard, his brothers, James Leonard and Robert Leonard, the mother of his three children, Mary Bowman Leonard, and his beloved friend for many years, Anne Wood.

Memorial contributions in memory of Tom may be made to the Everglades Society for Historic Preservation, Inc. for the Bank of Everglades Building project, and sent to ESHP, P.O. Box 46, Everglades City, FL  34139.
