Old Mullet Rappers Live On

Posted

Did you know that you can look up copies of the old Mullet Rappers online? More than eighteen years ago, when I was publisher and editor of the Mullet Rapper, I received a call from the University of Florida asking me if I would like to have our local newspaper stored electronically. They were contacting all the small-town newspapers throughout Florida to provide one online source for our state. All I had to do was give them permission; it’s a great resource and a glance back at the history of our community. Check it out and read some interesting past articles.

To access, just go to the Florida Digital Newspaper Library at https://newspapers.uflib.ufl.edu/AA00019229/00001 to view the first issue that they published online (October 20, 2006). Since then, they have added 438 issues of the Mullet Rapper to their digital library; click on the “Go To” bar and you can search through the years. The very first paper edition of the Mullet Rapper was published on February 1, 2001, and earlier copies are available through the Everglades Society for Historic Preservation.
