On Saturday, August 29, friends gathered at Unity of Naples to celebrate the life of Kathy Adams who passed away on August 11, 2026. Kathy and Franklin Adams were married for 60 years. They met at Miami International Airport where they both worked for Hertz Corporation. Franklin was impressed by the tall slender brunette. He soon discovered her determined personality and her love of the environment and nature which included boating and fishing trips through the mangrove tunnels in the Everglades. When Kathy didn’t seem to be bothered by the spiders in her hair or all around the boat as they pulled their way through the dense jungle-like water trails, Franklin knew she was someone who could handle just about anything, like the weekend they spent on Loop Road with heavy rains and gators.
Kathy and Franklin moved to Naples where Kathy designed their home in the woods, “Adams Eden” and planted a butterfly garden. During the ceremony their daughter Heather spoke of her mother’s love of nature – the rain, wildflowers, etc. Her grandson Michael and granddaughter Emily also spoke lovingly of their grandmother. Her cousin Steve reminisced about Kathy’s early life in Miami.
Kathy will be remembered for her generous heart, beautiful spirit, strength, and the countless ways she made those around her feel loved. In Kathy’s memory, donations may be made to Friends of the Everglades (www.everglades.org), Avow Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
